According to NBC Olympics,

Simone Biles was too young to qualify for the 2012 Olympics, but the 4-foot-9 gymnast has completely dominated her sport since her senior debut in 2013. Not only is she the first female gymnast since 1974 to win four consecutive all-around titles at the U.S. national championships, but she’s also the first woman ever to be the all-around world champion three years in a row. Not to mention that she’s won fourteen total world championships medals—the most ever won by an American woman.

She won the gold medal at the women’s individual all-around gymnastics competition and it’s amazing to note that she is just 19. Asides her individual win, she also led her team consisting of Gabby Douglas, Laurie Hernandez, Aly Raisman and Madison Kocian, to another Gold medal win in the group women’s gymnastics competition. She has already been dubbed the Michael Jordan of Gymnastics and possibly, the best female gymnast in the world.

According to Daily Mail UK:

USA’s Simone Manuel has made history as the first black woman in the United States to take home a medal in an individual Olympic swimming event.

And it’s a gold in the women’s 100m freestyle – an event the US has not won since 1984.

It was an emotional moment for Manuel, 20, who broke down in tears after winning the event – as well as setting a new Olympic record. She ied for first place with Canadian teenager Penny Oleksiak in an Olympic record time of 52.70 seconds and also won silver in the 4x100m freestyle relay.
